Day 1- October 25th, 2018
Today I begin the documentation of my adventures, your adventures, and the spaces we meet in between. You are welcome to peruse my field notes at your leisure and if there is anything to be gained from them I hope you find it and that it brings you joy.
To start- I’m Zoë, sheep and cookie dough obsessed photographer always looking for excitement and wonder. I miss terribly the days of childhood when everything was bright and new. By hiking and exploring the world I am seeking to recapture that feeling. By photographing love in nature I am seeking to spread light and love throughout the world.
I have a great many talents- most of them involve eating too much of a good thing (cookie dough). None of them bring me joy like photography. If there isn’t a camera strapped to me somehow, you’ll likely find me in the mountains taking very professional iPhone photos, cuddling with my cats in bed, or traveling the world.
Travel is a very important part of my life and artistic practice. There are so many differences between people from different places, but we are also all so similar. The many customs and cultures inspire me, excite me- frustrate me sometimes- and educate me. My heart is so filled with thanks at every opportunity I get to travel.
I have a little family here in Washington that consists of my partner, Jon, two cats- Biscuit & Butter- and two chinchillas- Potato & Tomato. We all love meeting new friends (except Butter, whose greatest aspiration is to be a baseboard). Jon is a carpenter and he does photography as a hobby. We met in Chicago while I was in college and he was working for Hedrich Blessing Photographers as their head retoucher. I learned everything I know about editing from him (which, thanks to him, is a whole lot!).
We’ll keep this short today but I want to say I am grateful to have you along for this journey. It’s going to be a wild one!
